iPad Keyboard Troubleshooting

This wiki page has a few helpful tips on what to do if you run into issues with iPad keyboard cases.

If you are experiencing issues with the iPad keyboard, the quickest and easiest first step is to reboot the iPad. You can do this by holding the power and home buttons down at the same time for about 15 seconds. The iPad should turn off and then on again by itself.

The iPad cases work via contacts that are on the side of the iPad and inside the case. Make sure that the iPad is placed in the case correctly, with the home button on the right-hand side in order to make sure the contacts are touching.

Make sure that the contacts on the iPad and the keyboard case are clean.

If you are experiencing an issue where only some letters work and the spacebar highlights words, go into Settings > Accessibility > Keyboards > “Full Keyboard Access” and make sure that is off.

If some of the letters and symbols don't work, go into Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > “English (US)” Make sure that English US is the only language there, or it is at the top of the list. Keyboard languages that are not needed can be removed by clicking the “Edit” button.
